Yakovlev Yak-36 "Freehand"

A twin-engined VTOL fighter. Vertical thrust was exhausted through nozzles in the tail, each wing and from the front of the long probe on the nose.

The first flight was in September, 1963. The museum's aircraft was last flown in July, 1967.

Yakovlev Yak-38 "Forger"

The Yak-38 (far right) has one main engine and two vertically mounted engines beind the cockpit to provide VTOL capabilities. The aircraft is capable of carrier-based operation and has folding wing tips.
